SaveSurjith: A National cowardice

Fortunately or unfortunately. Do you live in a dark room for a day?  If yes, now just think that you are 
at the age of 2. It’s unimaginable. Now add, that is not a room, it is a Borewell of depth above 300ft. 
The State and central rescue forces are trying to save you but everything is happening at the top land. 
You are alone inside for more than 60 hours. It’s really a hard thing to empathy ourselves to that 
position.

But it became true now near you. 

Nadukkaattampatti a tiny village of manapparai taluk, Trichy is the talk of the nation right now. A 
2-year-old kid named sujith Wilson fell into a bore well on Friday ( 25.10.19 ) evening at 5.45 pm. 
After completing 48 hours of rescue efforts, till now ( 27.10.19 ) everyone in and around the spot is 
waiting with a single expectation about the safe rescue of sujith. 

But actually the ongoing rescue operations are appreciable when we see these an all from top land. 
It’s actually towards 4th day. But still, nothing happened. (everything is happening near and top of him )

Every time a child falls into a borewell, the whole nation pays attention, but every time a borewell is 
drilled, no government is concerned. (not only in Tamilnadu governance but also India ). It should be 
the responsibility of the government, especially the local body panchayat raj officials should make sure
that these things are done in accordance with the norms of the national and the local boards of 
advisors and make do away with anything that would harm the common human living and existence. 

This is not the incident that happening the first time in the nation. It’s one among the many, from which 
there were no learnings. There are so many compelling and prohibiting rules that insist every 
abandoned borewell should be properly closed and maintained. And an approval certificate from the 
local authority should be obtained and the local authority should owe the responsibility for these kinds 
of incidents. 

The local authority (VAO, Surveyor ) should verify the condition of the borewell and obtain a certificate 
of disposal from the borewell company and even permit a borewell company to operate on a specified 
location to drill. Any illegal borewell should be notified to the district administration. There shouldn’t be 
any borewell in the country without the prior approval of the district administration. These rules and 
guidelines are constituted with a good moto only. But we have som many real-time issues in 
implementation.

Without these rules, no human society will enhance and prosper. 

As Spoke with an ex-borewell worker Chnadralingam who has 45 years of experience in borewell 
drilling. He said “The nation is still saddened for the failure of the unsuccessful landing of the 
Vikram lander on the Southpole of the moon. But we should be ashamed of the failure to safeguard the 
life of the two-year-old child on the well-known planet earth. What Does It Indicate?  we have a lot to 
invent and even discover the ways and means to safeguard and protect the life of the 
innocent children and the citizens he added.

Broadcasting Media has no other options and chances apart from showing live and making every 
normal decision into a piece of breaking news. Your mental behaviour is completely being controlled 
by TV remote which is still near you. Just leave them and think. 

Everywhere in Tamilnadu prayers and discussions for Surjit is going on. But the actual fact is 
“Surjith may or may not come alive”. But we all should learn one thing from this. Our system is too bad 
for poor citizens. we need to change. 

Politicians are keeping visiting a site and giving press meet that they are appreciating the rescue 
workers through media. VCK leader thol.thirumavalavan said he will take this issue into parliament 
debates. Yes, this issue must be discussed in Lok sabha and our next initiative should be of inventing 
a better technology by observing the worldwide technology for rescuing kids struggling like above. 

Every individual in Tamilnadu is expecting for a cry. Yes, the crying sound of Surjit. This would be his 
rebirth. But who knows, he may come out silently and make us cry for his soul.

I Don't wan't to say like this now. but every movements of government after 46th hour is making ourself 
to question like this.. is he alive?.
